According to the National Head Lice Support Center, the number of primary school children with head lice has doubled in the past 15 years despite vigilant checks by schools and parents. In the survey conducted, the number of children with head lice has doubled in the past 15 years. The survey shows 25.5 percent of parents say their children have head lice in the past 12 months as compared to 11 percent of children with head lice in 1993.

Here are three hair-raising words that strike fear into the heart of any parent familiar with lice:
No Nit Policy. Why?
Because if your child's school enforces a no nit policy, that means any child with nits or eggs in her hair will not be allowed to attend school. That probably means that, unless someone is willing to provide care for a child with head lice, one of the child's parents is going to miss work or other commitments until all signs of lice are gone. Lots of remedies promise r…

It's that time of the year again: Back to School Season. And with it, comes nature's peskiest pest: Head lice. That's why
September is head lice awareness month.
With our children all snugly packed up together indoors, keeping their wool hats right next to each other, and sharing goodies like brushes and combs, they can end up bringing home some new friends. But instead of welcoming over little Suzy for milk and cookies after school, you may end up finding the likes of little, bitty, tin…

False.
The only way to get head lice from camping is to go camping with others who are infested. Since tents often mean close sleeping quarters, sharing pillows and clothing make it easy for those critters to crawl from their original host to everyone else.
So instead of…

In the "Hair" episode of the television show The New Adventures of Old Christine, Christine (Julia Louise-Dreyfus), is accused of introducing head lice into her son's public school. Although the show is a comedy (starring the actress who played Elaine in Seinfeld), not everyone is ready to laugh about their head lice experience until the problem is long, long gone.
Personally, I still have the occasional dream at night that we're all facing lice all over again. The upshot is that I now know exa…

Introduction
If you’re reading this, there’s either a lice infestation in your family or the threat of one in your community. And if that’s the case you may have been tempted to take drastic measures. The good news is that they are unnecessary; you can keep your hair and the house and still get rid of the head lice.
If you’re panicked about head lice, or if you’re just itching to get rid of them, ASAP, you probably won’t find the situation funny until later. But there’s more good news: if you’ve…

I looked at several books before purchasing the Head Lice Handbook and I must say there really isn't anything else out there like it. It has easy to follow step by step instructions and doesn't cost an arm and a leg like some of the other books. I highly recommend it.
